The client
Clean-Seas West Virginia is part of Clean-Seas’ Plastic Conversion Network, which turns difficult-to-recycle plastics into clean feedstocks for new plastic products and plastic pyrolysis oil.
According to Clean-Seas’ own project information, the Belle facility is designed to process 50 tons a day in its first phase and 200 tons a day in its second, with a feedstock source of 36,500 tons a year for ten years and a Fortune 50 oil and gas producer as offtake purchaser.
The brief
A plant like this depends on its industrial relationships with feedstock suppliers, offtake buyers, logistics and waste operators, and local stakeholders. The brief was to find parties with a commercial reason to work with it, rather than anyone with a passing interest in recycling.
Our approach
Read the project stage
We started from Clean-Seas’ own project information on the facility’s stage, capacity, feedstock plan, offtake and location.
Map the industrial counterparties
Sources of post-use and post-industrial plastic, logistics and waste-stream operators, recycling infrastructure and local stakeholders were mapped against those signals.
Test each party
Each party had to be able to do something concrete for the plant, such as supplying material, buying output, moving it, financing it or permitting it. If not, we did not pass it on.
The outcome
Six commercial introductions in 120 days.
Industrial markets move slowly and the people in them are cautious, so 120 days is not long. One relationship that secures feedstock or starts an offtake conversation can shape a plant’s output for years.
